Groups & Clubs

If you would like your group information added or amended please contact us here.

Great Bowden Heritage & Archaeology

We are primarily an action group undertaking a wide spectrum of activities including digs, field walking, displays, archiving, translating and research. We operate individually, in small groups or large, coming together for main events, training and monthly meetings. Meetings progress activities, plan future events, develop new ideas and raise funds.
A sub group meet weekly to clean and identify finds, to examine documents, to research and record material.
We have access to professional expertise including direct liaison with Leicestershire County Council’s Heritage Services and with other groups in the area, occasionally undertaking shared workshops with experts in relevant fields.
Once a year we hold a feast in the Village Hall and actively participate in wider village festivities and events.

Harborough District Council will continue to provide the essential repairs and maintenance.

There is now a committee operating as The Friends of Great Bowden Cemetery whose mission is "To encourage and support the care and maintenance of Great Bowden Cemetery, preserving a calm and orderly atmosphere for visitors to the final resting place of those they remember."
