The fields surrounding Great Bowden are all classed Greenfield status as well as either being Separation of Settlement land or Attractive Countryside.
‘Separation of Settlements’ areas are fields behind Bankfield Drive down to Knights End Road and Dingley Road west over to the Rockingham Road as well as the back of Main Street up to the back of The Ridgeway/Scott Close housing etc. This is an important title to this area, which was given this protected status to keep the identity of Great Bowden and its valued rural setting. (Some of this land is also Flood Plain - see map link below)
The ‘Attractive Countryside’ areas are all other fields including Leicester Lane/Bowden Hall up the hill to the Alvington Road estate and all northern boundary fields.
The Local Development Framework (LDF) - Character Assessment
A short while ago a report was mentioned 'Landscape Character Assessment 2007', undertaken by HDC, which had appeared on their website. As some may be unaware of this work and others may be concerned about its content I thought it worthwhile obtaining more detail. I have now finished my 'probing' and enclose a note, which puts the LRA in context. The contact point for the report detail is:
